Peacocks have always been part of Myrtle Grove.
When the Miller family began stewarding Myrtle Grove, they inherited an unusual tenant—a one-eyed peacock they named Eclipse. Over the last 30 years, many peacocks have roamed the farm property, leading friends to affectionately call Myrtle Grove the “Peacock Farm.”
A descendant of the original Goldsborough family shared that peacocks have always been part of the farm, adding an unexpected burst of beauty to the working landscape.

The peacocks of Myrtle Grove not only capture a chapter of the farm’s history, they also gesture towards the very mission of Myrtle Grove—to bring out the beauty of this productive landscape through attentive stewardship.
Peacocks have been called “walking flower gardens,” but the birds are more than beautiful. They are surprisingly hardy in the face of both predators and elements.
The image of the main house with peacocks in the foreground is an original oil painting done in the 20th century. It currently hangs in the main house.
The peacocks' striking greens and blues, which are reflected in the Myrtle Grove Hemp Farm logo, capture the confluence of sea and shore which is the very heart of Myrtle Grove. Our logo is a simplified combination of the hemp leaf and a peacock silhouette to honor them both in our farm's history and future.
Our secondary logo, a stylized peacock feather, serves as a way to reinforce our history, and include the more vibrant colors seen in these majestic animals that roam our farm in our branding and across our product offerings.
